Hydroponic method of Cyperus rotundus

1. Use the root washing method and division method to grow the plant in water. New roots will grow in the water in about a week. The water level should not submerge the roots.

2. The crown of Cyperus rotundus is large, so do not put too many branches in one container. Sparser ones will look more desolate and natural.

3. First fill the bottom of the glass container with clean stones, pebbles, etc., then place the plant in it, and use stones and pebbles to press down the roots to ensure that the plant does not shake and does not fall over in the water.

4. The temperature is high in summer, so you should pay attention to increasing the frequency of water changes and washing away the mucus on the roots to avoid root rot and death.

5. Use a spray bottle of clean water to spray the leaves frequently to keep them dust-free, fresh, green and shiny. During the growing season, you can spray foliar fertilizer on the leaves several times to make the leaves appear greener.

Maintenance habits of Cyperus rotundus

Environmental requirements: It likes high temperature, humid and semi-shaded environment and can be placed in a warm and bright room all year round. The overwintering temperature should not be lower than five degrees Celsius. It should be kept in a cool and ventilated environment in summer and can also tolerate dry climate slightly.

Fertilization method: If you want windmill grass to grow well, you need to fertilize it frequently, but organic fertilizer must not be applied to windmill grass grown in water, otherwise the roots will rot. You can apply fertilizer dissolved in water once every half a month, but the concentration should not be too high. Windmill grass grown in water should be placed in a ventilated place, otherwise white mold will easily grow at the base of the stem.

Seasonal maintenance: For water-grown Cyperus rotundus, the water needs to be replaced with cold boiled water every 2 to 3 days in summer to prevent the cuttings from being contaminated by bacteria and rotting. In winter, you only need to change it once every 10 days and add 4 to 5 drops of nutrient solution.
