How to Propagate Aloe Vera

1. Division propagation

(1) Aloe vera grows very quickly and its root system also grows very quickly. After some side buds appear around the roots, division propagation can be carried out.

(2) Remove the plant from the container and clean off the soil around the roots. Observe whether these side shoots have matured. Only when it has independent roots does it mean it is mature.

(3) Select the side bud and gently break it off. If they are ripe, they can be easily broken off. Don't use force to break it off, otherwise it will be difficult to save even if you take it off.

(4) Place the removed side buds in a ventilated place to dry for a while before planting.

(5) The soil can be humus with some ash added. Fill in part of the soil, then insert the side shoots and fill in part of the soil again.

(6) Water thoroughly and the plant will be ready to grow in about a week.

2. Cutting propagation

(1) Choose strong leaves, about eight centimeters in length. Cut it with a sterilized knife and place it in a well-ventilated place to dry for a while. After the wound has dried, you can start cuttings.

(2) Choose special soil, which is conducive to the survival of cuttings. The soil must have good drainage, and you can add some fine sand to the soil you prepare yourself.

(3) Fill the container with soil, then insert the leaves into the soil, about one-third of the way. After planting, place it in a well-lit and ventilated place for maintenance.
