The growth environment and local conditions of Forsythia

Forsythia growth environment and conditions

Forsythia generally grows in hillside bushes, under forests or in grass, or in sparse woods in valleys and ravines, at an altitude of 250-2200 meters. It is produced in Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Shandong, western Anhui, Henan, Hubei, and Sichuan in China. It is cultivated all over the country and also in Japan.

Forsythia Growing Conditions

Forsythia likes a warm, humid and sunny environment. It is very cold-resistant and can withstand temperatures as low as minus 50 degrees Celsius. It has a well-developed root system and is suitable for planting in loose, fertile neutral, slightly acidic or alkaline soils. It has a strong adaptability to soil and can grow on dry sunny slopes or in rock crevices with soil.

Forsythia growth temperature

Forsythia is also a rare flower with strong cold-resistance and heat-resistance. The suitable growth temperature is generally between 13-25 degrees Celsius. When grown at such a temperature, Forsythia grows better. Forsythia can continue to grow in a high temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and can continue to survive at minus 10 degrees Celsius, which fully reflects the good vitality of Forsythia.

Forsythia growth process

The leaves of Forsythia are opposite and ovate in shape. The flowers are golden yellow. They bloom first and then the leaves grow. The flowering time is from March to May every year. The fruit is a capsule, which is ovoid. It usually bears fruit in July and August and matures in October.

Forsythia Planting Time and Method

Forsythia is suitable for sowing in spring, which is early to mid-March in the south and early April in the north. You can dig a small hole in the soil, about 3 cm deep, choose plump, disease-free seeds, and sow 5-10 seeds in each hole. Cover the soil and press it slightly to make the seeds and soil closely combine. It usually blooms and bears fruit after 3 to 4 years.
