What are the cultivation methods and precautions for petunia

Petunia breeding method

Petunia belongs to the Solanaceae family. There are generally two ways of reproduction: seed propagation and cutting propagation. The growth rate of seed propagation is relatively fast. It will germinate 20 days after planting and will bloom in the same year. The flowering period can last for several months. There are also many varieties, and they are all good in ornamental value.

Petunia cultivation method

When caring for petunias, a suitable temperature is required. The most suitable temperature for them is between 13-18 degrees. In winter, the temperature cannot be lower than 4 degrees. When planting, loose, fertile, and well-drained sandy loam is generally used. There must be sufficient sunlight during maintenance.

Watering method

When watering petunias, you need to do it in moderation and keep the soil moist at ordinary times, but avoid water accumulation. Water needs to be replenished in time during the high temperatures in summer.

Fertilization method

When petunias are in the seedling stage, it is generally necessary to apply thin fertilizers frequently. When it reaches the flowering period, nutrients need to be continuously supplemented so that it can continue to bloom. In addition, some compound fertilizers need to be applied in appropriate amounts in March and April.

Pruning methods

Petunia needs to be pruned appropriately during maintenance, and it needs to be topped off when it is in the seedling stage. This can encourage the sprouting of side branches and increase the number of flowers.

Precautions for petunia cultivation

When caring for petunias, you need to pay attention to the fact that there must be sufficient sunlight at normal times. If there is insufficient light, the flower color will be duller and the number of flowers will decrease. During the cultivation period, you must pinch the tops of the flowers immediately, otherwise it will lead to a decrease in branches.
