The growth cycle of fennel is about 45-60 days, and its growth speed is very fast. It is mostly planted in spring and autumn. It can also be cultivated in greenhouses in mid-autumn and early spring, which can extend the supply period of fennel by 1-2 months.

The growth of fennel goes through several stages, including the seedling growth period, the plant growth period, the bolting and flowering period, and the flowering and fruiting period. The plants are planted in March-April in spring or July-September in autumn.

The growth process of fennel

1. Seedling growth period: After fennel is sown, as long as the temperature is suitable, seedlings will emerge in about 8-10 days.

2. Bolting and flowering period: Fennel bulbs need to be vernalized at low temperatures, and then flower buds will differentiate. Long-day care can better promote the formation of flower buds.

3. Flowering and fruiting period: When the fennel bulb produces 1-4 flower stalks, the inflorescences of all levels will open successively. It takes about 35-40 days from flowering to seed maturity.

Fennel growth period maintenance and management

1. During the fennel seedling stage, the greenhouse temperature needs to be ventilated when it is higher than 22°C, and sufficient irrigation is required when the seedlings grow to 20 cm.

2. Fennel needs to be fertilized in time during the maturity period. It needs to be fertilized every 2-3 harvests, mainly with high-nitrogen compound fertilizer.
