When is the best season to plant olives?

Olives can be planted in summer and autumn, from late July to October. It is generally planted in July in the south, a little later in August in the areas near the Yangtze River, and around October in the north.

Olive harvest season

Olive oil sown in early autumn can be harvested 30-35 days after sowing, and can be harvested 4-5 times thereafter until late March of the following year, with an acreage yield of 2,500-3,000 kg. Olive oil sown in early October needs to be planted for 45-60 days before it can be harvested. Olive oil sown in spring is harvested in April, usually 1-2 times, with an acreage yield of about 1,000 kg.

Olive vegetable planting steps and methods

1. Sowing: Choose fertile, loose and well-drained soil, water the soil with an appropriate amount of water, then sprinkle healthy seeds on the soil layer, then cover it with a thin layer of soil, and water it sufficiently to keep the soil moist;

2. It will take about a week for the seeds to sprout. When the seedlings grow 1-2 leaves, remove the sick and weak seedlings and keep the healthy plants 3-5 cm apart.

3. When 3-5 leaves grow, transplanting and planting are necessary. Be careful to avoid damaging the roots during transplanting. The spacing between plants should be 10-15 cm. After planting, water them thoroughly.
