Potato planting is divided into seasons, from mid-to-late April to early May. This time is suitable for potato planting in northwestern regions such as Northeast China, Gansu, and Qinghai. It is also the last time potatoes are harvested in autumn.

Potatoes can be divided into five categories based on maturity: very early maturing, early maturing, medium maturing, medium-late maturing, and late maturing. Most varieties of potatoes are suitable for planting in spring and autumn.

In the northeast and northwest regions, such as Gansu and Qinghai, potatoes are usually planted in spring (late April to early May) and harvested in autumn. Usually they can only be planted once a year. For example, in Jiangxi, the average yield of potatoes is 1,500 kilograms per mu.

1. Site selection and land preparation

The land selection is very important for high potato yield. Try to choose land with fertile soil and loose soil. Sandy land is most suitable for potato cultivation. Secondly, dig as deep as possible on the whole land. The soil is slightly finer and the base fertilizer is applied. It can not only eliminate weeds planted in the field, but also prevent diseases. The potatoes can grow better and the potatoes can be larger.

2. Seed treatment

10 days before sowing, take out the potatoes and let them germinate at a certain temperature. When most of the potato sprouts grow to the fingernails, move them outdoors for a week. Before sowing, cut the sprouted part of the potato into 3-4 pieces according to the germination situation, and then sow them with lime soil.

3. Field management

When sowing, you need to plant at a certain interval. Potatoes need enough space to grow underground. Otherwise, the growing potatoes will become smaller and the yield will be lower. Secondly, when planting, fertilize with farmyard manure as much as possible, and the fertilizer cannot directly contact the planting block. Otherwise, the potatoes will burn to death.
