How to plant blue stone lotus seeds

How to plant blue stone lotus seeds

1. Preparation of planting soil

There are two key points to the planting soil of blue stone lotus: the first is that it must be fertile, and the second is that it must have good drainage.

It likes fertilizer, and only planting soil with sufficient fertility can meet its growth and development needs and support it to bloom colorful and beautiful flowers.

It is afraid of waterlogging. Once water accumulates in the soil, it will easily cause its roots and rhizomes to rot, so you must not choose planting soil with poor drainage.

To sum up, the editor recommends two kinds of planting soil combinations:

The first is one part each of peat, vermiculite, and perlite, with an appropriate amount of bone meal added.

The second type is a mixture of 3 parts leaf mold, 3 parts river sand, 1 part garden soil, and 1 part slag.

2. Planting environment

In order to provide good germination conditions for its seeds, in addition to preparing good planting soil, you also need to put in some effort in other aspects.

The first is the planting temperature. Planting at around 25℃ can effectively increase its germination rate.

The second step is to disinfect the planting soil. Heating the planting soil in an iron pan or microwave before sowing can kill most pathogens.

In addition, you can soak the seeds in water at about 35°C. When you see the seeds swell, you can use them for planting.

3. Planting method

First, take some prepared planting soil and put it in the flowerpot, fill 90% of the volume of the flowerpot, and prepare the soil surface.

Then put the bottom of the flowerpot into clean water and allow the water to seep into the planting soil through the drainage holes at the bottom.

Because its seeds are relatively small in size, they are not suitable for spot sowing but are more suitable for broadcasting. The specific method is to mix the seeds with a small amount of fine sand and pour it in the middle of a folded white paper, and then sprinkle it evenly on the soil surface.

Then cover the flower pot with plastic wrap to maintain the humidity in the pot. Don't forget to leave a few small holes in the plastic wrap to allow the seeds to breathe.

Finally, place it indoors and avoid direct sunlight.

After a few days when the seed germination rate is higher than 50%, you can remove the plastic wrap.
