Celery can be planted regardless of season. First of all, celery is a cold-resistant crop. Celery is a cold-resistant vegetable that likes cold conditions. You must choose the time when planting celery. The best time is autumn, or August or September. If the weather is suitable, celery will grow well.

Celery harvest season

Celery can be harvested all year round. Celery grown in the open air does not produce as much as celery grown in greenhouses. Celery grown in the reserve in winter and sold in early spring can produce up to 10,000 kg per mu. Celery grown in greenhouses in early spring can produce about 5,000 kg.

Celery planting steps and methods

1. Seed Soaking and Germination

The seed coat is thick and not easy to absorb water. The germination is slow and uneven. Soaking is required before sowing. After soaking for 12-14 hours, rinse with water, gently rub off the skin with your hands, wrap it with a wet towel, place it at 20-22℃ for 4-6 days, and sow it after the seeds turn white. 100-150g/μ.

2. Seeding and seedling raising

Seedling beds can be used for seedling raising. It should be planted in a cool, well-drained, and easily irrigated place. Mature farmyard manure with an output of 1,000 kg per mu should be mixed evenly with the soil. Within 7-10 days after sowing, 2-2.5g per square meter should be applied. In order not to affect the growth of celery, shade nets should be used to reduce the temperature of the seedlings in summer, and the covering should be removed after eclosion.

3. Planting

When the seedlings have 4-5 true leaves, they can be planted. Parsley has a long growth period, usually 6-7 months. Therefore, sufficient basal fertilizer should be applied before planting, and 5,000 kg of mature farmyard manure can be applied per mu. When planting, the edge is 1 meter wide and can be planted in two rows, with each plant 20-25 cm apart.

4. Site management

(1) Watering

After planting the seedlings, water them in time. They will germinate after a week. The soil should be kept moist during the seedling stage. After the seedlings grow slowly, watering should be controlled. Too little water will slow down the growth of celery, make the stems hollow, and reduce yield. Too many weeds will also inhibit the growth of celery. It should be noted that weeding is generally done during inter-cultivation, and it must not be too deep to avoid damaging the root system of celery.

(2) Foliar fertilization

During the period of vigorous growth of celery, water should be applied every 15-20 days, 15-20 kg of ammonium sulfate should be applied per mu, and 0.3% urea and 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be sprayed on the leaves every 10 days or so.
