Dandelions generally grow in temperate and subtropical regions. They are more common in places with relatively low altitudes and in cities. They are relatively resistant to low temperatures. Their origin is in Xinjiang and other places. Now they are common all over the country. There are about 70 varieties of them in China.

Dandelion Growing Conditions

For dandelions, the most suitable growth temperature is between 20-25 degrees. Its growth rate is relatively fast within this temperature. However, it can also withstand low temperatures of minus 30 degrees, but its growth will be slower.

Dandelions have strong adaptability, so they are drought-resistant and heat-resistant. They can germinate when the temperature is between 15-25 degrees. If the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, they will germinate slowly. For leaves, the most suitable growth temperature is around 20 degrees.

Dandelion growth process

Wild dandelions usually bloom in May and June every year. As they grow longer, they will bloom more flowers. Generally speaking, they will bloom more than 20 flowers at most. Their seeds have a relatively short maturation period, and they will mature in about 13-15 days. At that time, the outer shell of their flower disk will turn yellow.

Dandelion planting time and method

Dandelions are generally planted in March and April in spring, or in September and October in autumn. The temperatures in these two time periods are more suitable for growth. The seeds need to be harvested in advance and then germinated. If suitable soil is used for planting in spring, the growth rate will be faster.
