How to plant succulent seeds

Succulent seed planting time

The suitable germination temperature for succulent seeds is 15-25 degrees. If fresh seeds of the current year are used, they can be sown as long as the temperature is below 30 degrees. Therefore, the more suitable sowing time for succulents is in spring and autumn.

How to plant succulent seeds

1. Seed selection

The seeds used for sowing must be healthy and full. Do not use seeds with pests and diseases or seeds that have been stored for a long time, as they will affect the germination of the seeds. Good seed selection will increase the seed germination rate.

2. Prepare the soil

Succulents like loose soil with good drainage, air permeability and water retention capacity. It can usually be prepared by mixing perlite, peat soil and Akadama soil. You can first lay a thin layer of pebbles underneath it to increase drainage.

3. Sowing method

Succulent seeds are relatively small, so we can first put the seeds on a piece of white paper, and then use a toothpick dipped in water to sow the seeds on the surface of the soil. There is no need to cover them with soil. Then put a layer of plastic wrap and poke some small holes with a toothpick to increase air permeability.

Precautions for daily management of succulent plants

Succulents should be provided with sufficient light during daily maintenance. Except for shade in summer, they can accept full sunlight in other seasons. They like a warm environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 12-28 degrees. The wintering temperature is 5 degrees, and the summer temperature should not exceed 35 degrees.
