What are the cultivation methods and precautions of golden orange?

Introduction of Golden Money

Golden money orange, also known as Jing orange, is a specialty of Guizhou Province with a long history of cultivation. It is about 2 meters tall, with short thorns, slender twigs, alternate leaves, round, oval or ovate. It bears fruit late, so sowing is generally not used. It is mostly propagated by grafting, cuttings and aerial layering.

How to cultivate golden orange

Goldenrod prefers a warm, humid and well-lit environment. It is not shade-tolerant, but it is not suitable for exposure to the sun. It needs to be shaded in the spring and summer in the north. It is not cold-tolerant. When the temperature is below 10℃ in late autumn, it needs to be brought indoors for maintenance. The room temperature should be between 6-12℃.

The kumquat needs to be repotted every three years. The time for repotting should be before flowering. First, knock the plant out of the pot without damaging the roots. Trim off the dense roots and replant it in loose, fertile, well-drained soil.

Watering method

If the soil of the kumquat is dry, water it in time to keep the soil slightly moist. No water accumulation is allowed. The plant itself is not tolerant to waterlogging, so drain the water in time during the rainy season.

Fertilization method

During the growth period of kumquat, timely fertilizer is needed to meet its needs for various nutrients. It is recommended to apply more organic fertilizers, and reasonably apply inorganic fertilizers and compound fertilizers.

Pruning methods

The pruning methods of kumquat mainly include pruning, bud removal and thinning. Shortening can solve the problems of unclear main branches, messy crown and weak skeleton. Timely bud removal can promote the sprouting of branches, and thinning dense branches and leaves can increase ventilation.

Things to note when growing kumquats

To grow kumquats well and make them bear abundant fruit, you must prune them when the temperature rises in spring. This will reduce the loss of nutrients, sprout more new buds, and increase the number of fruiting branches.
