What are the cultivation methods and precautions for potted mint?

How to grow mint in a pot

Potted mint, whose local name is "Silver Dan Grass", belongs to the Lamiaceae family. Its common propagation methods include cutting propagation, division propagation, and sowing propagation. It is a perennial herb that can grow to a height of 30-60 cm. It has many branches, so it needs to be pruned in time during the growth process.

When caring for potted mint, there must be sufficient sunlight and the temperature must be kept between 25-30 degrees. Sufficient water is needed during the maintenance period so that it can grow better. It is best to have a good ventilation environment to reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.

Watering method

Potted mint needs to be watered in time in the early and middle stages of maintenance, so that its roots and branches and leaves can grow better. In the later stages, watering needs to be properly controlled, generally once every 15 days.

Fertilization method

When caring for potted mint, generally no fertilization is required. When repotting in spring every year, a small amount of base fertilizer needs to be applied, usually organic fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Pruning methods

During the growing period, potted mint needs to be pinched in time to promote the growth of side buds. If its branches are long and slender, they need to be shortened to about 10 cm.

Precautions for potted mint cultivation

When caring for potted mint, you need to pay attention to the fact that it needs to be repotted once every spring to allow it to have sufficient nutrients for growth. When changing the soil, generally use more fertile soil and add some organic fertilizer appropriately.
