What are the cultivation methods and precautions of Desert Rose?

Desert Rose Cultivation Method

Desert rose has a strong adaptability to the environment and can be planted in both the north and south of my country. It likes a cool climate and a sunny environment, but can also tolerate shade and has a certain degree of cold resistance. It likes moisture but is afraid of waterlogging. It is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil.

Watering method

Desert Rose needs more water during the growing season and less water during the dormant period. Specifically, water it every 5-7 days in spring and autumn, every 3-5 days in summer, and water it thoroughly every 10 days in winter. It also depends on the actual growth conditions. Generally, normal Desert Rose leaves are upright and shiny. If the leaves wilt, water them.

Fertilization method

When cultivating desert rose, it is necessary to fertilize it in time. You can apply organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer. At the same time, you can add some farmyard manure, cake fertilizer, etc. The plant is basically in a dormant state in winter and has less demand for fertilizer, so you can apply less or no fertilizer.

Pruning methods

When pruning desert roses, the main focus is on thinning out the densely growing branches. Properly cutting off some of them can increase its light transmittance and make the overall plant look more beautiful.

Precautions for growing desert roses

When watering the Desert Rose, it is not advisable to use tea water. Excessive watering will cause the roots of the Desert Rose to rot. When applying fertilizer, try to apply it along the wall of the pot and not close to the roots of the Desert Rose. The newly purchased Desert Rose already has nutrient soil, so no fertilizer is needed in the first 3 months.
