It is best to water Christmas cactus every few days

How often should I water my Christmas cactus?

The temperature gradually warms up in spring, and Christmas cactus should be watered about every 7 days. At the end of spring, it can be watered every 3-5 days. During the summer growth stage, it can be watered every 1-2 days. Autumn is also a period of vigorous growth, and it can be watered every 5-7 days. In winter, the temperature is lower, so water it every 7-10 days. Control watering during the flowering period.

Christmas cactus requires a lot of water for its growth. Keep the soil in the pot slightly moist but not wet, and do not allow water to accumulate. Pay attention to check the dryness of the soil when watering. Do not wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering during the growing season. Just keep it slightly moist. In other seasons, just follow the regular watering method.

What kind of water is best for watering Christmas cactus

1. Rainwater : Because rainwater contains a variety of elements that can be absorbed by plants, it is more nutritious than tap water and can make the leaves of Christmas cactus grow greener.

2. Soybean water : Because Christmas cactus mainly needs nitrogen fertilizer for its normal growth, and soybeans contain a lot of protein and vegetable oil. After composting, fermentation and decomposition, they will be converted into a large amount of nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, becoming a compound flower fertilizer.

3. Fertilizer and water : Since fertilizer is indispensable in the growth process of Christmas cactus, you can spray it with dipotassium phosphate solution and foliar fertilizer. After spraying phosphorus fertilizer, it will generally be full of flower buds in about 30 days.

What to do if you water the Christmas cactus too much

1. Prune the roots : After taking the plant out of the pot, dig up the soil and check whether the roots of the plant have rotted due to excessive watering. If part of the roots are rotten, cut off the rotten parts.

2. Dry the roots : Soak the trimmed roots of the plant in plant root fungicide for 30 minutes to sterilize and disinfect them. You can also sprinkle some wood ash evenly on the roots of the plant to help the root cuts heal, or you can dry them directly in the sun to prevent bacterial infection.
