How to grow a rootless orchid? Do I need to plant it deep?

1. How to raise

1. Prepare planting materials: Rootless orchid seedlings should be grown in planting materials with good permeability and water retention capacity. It is recommended to mix two parts of large-grained pine bark and one part of large-grained pumice and spread it on the bottom of the pot, then spread a layer of planting material made of a mixture of pine scales and medium-grained volcanic stone on top, then spread a layer of sphagnum moss and top it with a layer of small-grained volcanic stone. This kind of planting material is very breathable and water-retaining, and is very suitable for the growth of rootless orchid seedlings.

2. Carry out cleaning and care: After the rootless orchid seedlings are potted, they need to be placed in a warm place for care. It is recommended to keep the temperature around it at around 20℃. When caring for it, you should try to avoid external stimuli, strong light, and no fertilizer. Otherwise it may cause growth problems. Watering should also be properly controlled, water once every 7-10 days to keep the planting material slightly moist and dry.

2. Is deep planting necessary?

Rootless orchids do not need to be planted deeply. Because it has not yet grown roots at this time, it does not need to absorb water and nutrients from the underlying planting material. Moreover, planting it shallower can slightly reduce the resistance to its root growth and facilitate its rooting. After it has successfully taken root, you can add a layer of sphagnum moss on top of the planting material to wrap its roots.
