Selection of base fertilizer for peony

Before planting peonies, it is very important to apply sufficient base fertilizer to the flowerpot, which can meet the nutrients needed for the plant's future growth. Generally speaking, the base fertilizer is mainly decomposed bone meal, manure and compost, covered with soil.

How to apply peony base fertilizer

1 If you use potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution before and after flowering, you need to adjust the concentration before use. If you use some solid compound fertilizer, you can apply it on the surface of the substrate or bury it in the substrate.

How much base fertilizer should be added to peony

Generally speaking, three to four thousand kilograms of high-quality organic fertilizer are needed as base fertilizer per acre of peony, and 50-60 kilograms of triple compound fertilizer are also needed as base fertilizer.

How to apply base fertilizer to peony

In the second year after planting peony, top dressing should be applied 3-4 times a year. The first time is in March, applying 1,200 to 1,500 kg of human and animal manure per 667 meters. The second and third times are in May and July respectively, applying 1,500 to 2,000 kg of human and animal manure per 667 meters, and adding 20 kg of cake fertilizer. The fourth time is in November-December, applying 2,000 kg of human and animal manure.

In addition, starting from the second year, during the vigorous growth and development period and flowering period from May to June each year, 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution can be used as foliar fertilizer to increase yield.
