How to deal with sunflower root rot

How to deal with sunflower root rot

1. Control watering

Sunflowers are strong, grow well and are not prone to root rot. If you find signs of root rot, it may be because too much water has been applied. You need to stop watering immediately, loosen the soil to promote the flow of accumulated water in the pot soil, and place it in a well-ventilated place to promote the drainage of water as soon as possible.

2. Control fertilization

It can tolerate poor soil conditions and does not require much fertilizer. However, excessive fertilizer may cause root rot. Usually, you should control the amount of fertilizer you apply. If you find that you have applied too much fertilizer, you can dilute it with water to allow the excess fertilizer to flow out and not accumulate in the flowerpot.

3. Get more sunlight

In addition to controlling water and fertilizing, it also needs more sunlight and be placed where the light can reach to promote the evaporation of water as quickly as possible and make it grow more vigorously.

4. Replanting

If the root rot is serious, in addition to strengthening maintenance, you also need to prune the roots and replant. Take the sunflower out of the pot, cut off the rotten roots with sterilized scissors, wash and dry it, and apply fungicide. Prepare suitable flower pots and soil, disinfect them before use, then plant the sunflowers in them and pay attention to maintenance.
