How to propagate Guanyin bamboo

Guanyin bamboo is often propagated by division. Its seeds can be propagated, and natural reproduction can be carried out by seeds, but Guanyin bamboo division is the fastest propagation method.

The breeding time of Guanyin bamboo

Guanyin bamboo is generally propagated in early spring before the trees sprout, or in late autumn after the leaves fall. The temperature at this time is neither high nor low, and the reproduction survival rate is high.

Method of propagation of Guanyin bamboo by division

1. Division time

Since Guanyin bamboo is afraid of cold, autumn and winter are not suitable for division. The most ideal time is late April. Not only is the temperature suitable, but it will also enter a warm season after reproduction, which is also beneficial to its growth.

2. Division method

(1) Removing the bamboo from the pot: When dividing the bamboo, you first need to remove it from the pot. Note that this means removing it from the pot rather than digging it out. This means taking the roots out of the pot with the soil together to avoid root damage caused by digging.

(2) Dividing the clumps: Clean the old soil around the roots, use scissors to cut off the excess fibrous roots and rotten roots, and cut off the yellow and weak leaves on the plant. Then, divide the plant into several clumps and plant them separately. Generally, plant 2 to 4 clumps in each flowerpot, and 3 clumps is best, because the three branches of Guanyin bamboo represent good luck and fortune.

(3) Replanting: Plant the seedlings in a flowerpot. The substrate should be as fertile as possible. Generally, leaf mold and peat soil are used as the substrate for reproduction. Water thoroughly after planting. In order to keep the soil moist, you can spray water on the leaves 2-3 times a day.

Things to note when breeding Guanyin bamboo

1. The substrate must be healthy: The substrate soil used for the reproduction of Guanyin bamboo must be healthy. This is the most basic prerequisite. Otherwise, it is easy to cause the sub-plants to become diseased, which will not only make it difficult to reproduce successfully, but may also affect its survival.

2. Do not water too much: After the propagation of Guanyin Bamboo, you only need to water it thoroughly at the beginning. After that, you don’t need to water it again as long as the soil is kept moist. If the air is relatively dry, you can spray water every day. Do not water it frequently to cause water accumulation.
