Does Amaranth prefer shade or sun?

Amaranth is easy to grow. It originally grew wild in the mountains, so it has strong adaptability and is easy to grow at home. As long as you control the temperature, watering, light and other growing conditions, you can grow it well. In addition, Amaranth cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, so be sure to provide it with shade.

Does Amaranth like the sun?

Amaranth is a short-day plant and likes warmth. It should be given sufficient sunlight during planting, preferably about 5 hours, otherwise it will grow slowly due to insufficient light.

Amaranth can be exposed to the sun in the summer, but it is afraid of excessive exposure to the sun. If no shade measures are taken in the summer, its leaves will be burned and turn yellow. At this time, shade measures should be taken and some water should be poured.

Is Amaranth Shade Tolerant?

Amaranth is slightly shade-tolerant and should not be grown in a cool place for too long. If it is grown for too long, its growth and development will become slow, and in severe cases it may even stop growing.

Amaranth growing environment

Amaranth likes neutral soil and there are no strict requirements for the choice of soil. Generally, it is enough to choose relatively fertile soil with good drainage. It is heat-resistant and will hibernate in winter. The suitable temperature for growth is 23~27℃. It grows slowly below 20℃ and seeds are difficult to germinate below 10℃.

Amaranth likes moisture. The temperature is relatively low in spring and summer, so the amount of water should be controlled to keep the soil slightly moist. The temperature is relatively high in summer, so it needs to be watered frequently. Once water is depleted, its roots will die and its leaves will turn yellow.
