How many times a year does it bloom?

In its natural state, lilies only bloom once a year. However, if careful intervention is made, it is not impossible for the plant to bloom twice a year, but this will come at the expense of damaging the bulbs.

Specific steps: After the lilies wither, cut off the flower stalks, leaving 2 to 3 leaves, water them appropriately, and after the above-ground parts wither, dig out the bulbs, wrap them with soil, and place them in the refrigerator's fresh-keeping layer. Replant them after 1 to 2 months. After the leaves grow, they will slowly bloom!

Lack of phosphorus will affect the normal germination of lily flower buds. If flower buds do not exist, lilies will naturally not bloom beautiful flowers.

Therefore, if the lily still has not formed flower buds during the flowering period, you can consider applying compound fertilizers with high phosphorus and potassium content or other fertilizers rich in phosphorus and potassium to help the flower buds form as soon as possible. Once the flower buds grow normally, the probability of flowering will be greatly increased.

Plenty of sunlight

If lilies grow in the shade and do not receive sufficient light for a long time, the plants will not be able to carry out normal and effective photosynthesis, and it will be difficult to provide sufficient nutrients to promote the germination of flower buds. Similarly, there will be no buds and no flowers.

You can move the lilies outdoors to allow them to receive more light and provide sufficient nutrients for the growth of flower buds through photosynthesis.

What to do after flowering

In fact, many people will throw away the potted lilies in their homes after they wither. This is actually a waste! Lily is a perennial plant and its bulbs have the ability to regenerate. As long as the dead leaves are cut off in time and the bulbs are well preserved, they will bloom again if they are replanted the following year.

In September and October, dig the lily bulbs out of the pots, break off the scales, and store them in sandy soil indoors to allow them to safely overwinter, and then replant them in the spring of the following year. You can plant the scales separately, or plant them whole, and you can see the lilies blooming again!
