How to care for hydroponic daffodils

Narcissus hydroponic method

If you want to grow daffodils in water, you should choose healthy, plump, flat bulbs with brightly colored outer shells. Peel off the skin to expose the flower buds, clean the roots, soak them in clean water overnight, and then place them directly in a shallow basin. The bulbs should not be completely immersed in water.

Hydroponic daffodil cultivation method

During the hydroponic culture of daffodils, sufficient light needs to be provided, and it is best to place them in sunlight. The water should be changed every day when they are first potted. After the roots have taken shape, they can be changed every 2-3 days. After the flower buds are formed, water can be replenished every 7 days.

Hydroponic daffodils cannot do without light and need to be provided with sufficient light every day. It is best to maintain them in a diffused light and ventilated environment. Move them indoors after the temperature drops in late autumn and control the temperature between 13℃ and 18℃. During the flowering period, the temperature can be controlled at 8 degrees, which is most suitable. In addition, the water quality needs to be changed every week.

How to grow daffodils in water

When hydroponically cultivating daffodils, pay attention to the water quality. It is best to choose rainwater, well water, or river water. If tap water is used, it should be dried in advance. The breeding temperature should be controlled at 15-18°C. It should also be given sufficient light and not too dark. If the environment is suitable for its growth, it will bloom in 30-60 days.

How to grow daffodils in water without yellowing leaves

For most hydroponic flowers, the entire root is submerged when water is added. Daffodils are bulbous flowers, and the roots grow from the bottom of the bulb. If too much water is added, it will easily cause the bulb to rot. Therefore, it is best to add water to submerge 1/3 of the bulb. The water quality must be relatively clean so that the daffodils can grow well. If the water quality is too poor, it will easily cause the bulb to rot.

When the daffodils are first potted, it is best to change the water once a day. After the daffodils grow roots, you can change the water every two or three days. If the flower buds have grown, then changing the water once a week is enough. Because at this time, changing the water too frequently may easily affect the growth of the flower buds and thus affect the flowering of the daffodils.

Precautions for hydroponic daffodils

During the hydroponic culture of daffodils, attention should be paid to ventilation, timely water changes, and sufficient light. Shade measures should be taken in summer to prevent the leaves from being sunburned. It is best to grow them in water in autumn and winter, and let them bloom in spring. The flowering period is about 40-45 days. After the flowering period, the remaining flowers should be trimmed in time to reduce the loss of nutrients.
