Poplar growth environment conditions and characteristics

Poplar Growth Environment Conditions and Requirements

Poplar trees are generally more common in the northwest region. They have very tenacious vitality and deep roots. They generally grow in warm and well-lit places. They are generally planted along the roadsides or beside the ridges of fields on the Loess Plateau.

Poplar tree growth temperature

Poplar trees prefer warm environments and are not heat-resistant. They have good cold resistance and can withstand temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. The most suitable growth temperature for poplar trees is around 15 degrees, so it is generally most appropriate to plant them in spring.

Poplar growth humidity

Poplar trees are extremely drought-resistant and wind-resistant, but not shade-tolerant. Generally, the humidity requirements for planting poplar trees are not very high. They require more water in the early stages of growth, but the demand for water will decrease in the later stages. Generally, as long as the soil is not dry, no watering is required.

Poplar Growing Soil

The roots of poplar trees grow relatively deep and are more tolerant of barrenness, so the soil for planting must be deep. Generally, it is best to plant poplar trees in fertile, loose, slightly alkaline soil. They should not be planted in heavy clay soil.

Poplar growth cycle and process

It is generally best to plant poplar trees before they sprout in spring. Poplar trees mainly grow in spring and summer. Young buds and tender leaves will grow in spring, more branches will grow in summer, and the leaves will slowly turn yellow, wither and fall off in autumn.
