How to grow Kalanchoe in autumn

How to grow Kalanchoe in autumn

1. Increase fertilization

Kalanchoe usually blooms from February to May every year. Therefore, in autumn, you can increase the frequency of fertilizing it, so that it can store more nutrients, form more flower buds, and thus increase the number of flowers. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be selected as flower fertilizers.

2. Prune branches and leaves

In autumn, you can also prune the plants appropriately, cutting off the messy branches to keep the plant shape beautiful. If some branches are particularly long, they also need to be cut back. Doing this will prevent them from absorbing too many nutrients, which could result in the plant producing fewer flowers. In addition, when its main branches grow longer, you can cut them to about 15 cm. Doing this will stimulate the growth of side branches, thereby increasing the number of flowers on the plant.

3. Maintain temperature

From summer to fall, the temperature in some areas can drop sharply, which can make the plants uncomfortable. Therefore, it is best to move it indoors and let the temperature drop slowly. This will allow the plant to adapt to temperature changes and prevent it from experiencing poor growth. In addition, the temperature in autumn in some places will be below 10℃. At this time, it is best to take certain measures to raise the temperature, otherwise the plants may be frozen.
