Chicken breeding technology and feeding management

Chicken breeding technology and feeding management

Raising chicks requires farmers to master breeding techniques . First of all, they must choose chicken breeds that are healthy, disease-resistant, fast-growing and have good meat quality. The following editor will introduce chick breeding techniques and feeding management . Let’s take a look.

1. Chicken house selection

The chicken house should be located in a dry, ventilated and well-lit place. Before the chicks enter the house, the house must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to kill bacteria and viruses and provide a safe and hygienic growth environment for the chicks. There are 50 chicks per square meter for 1-2 week old chicks, 30 chicks per square meter for 3-4 week old chicks, and 15-20 chicks per square meter for 5-6 week old chicks.

2. Drink water and start eating

The first time chicks drink water within 12-24 hours after hatching, they can drink 0.01% potassium permanganate water or sugar water. The first feeding time is generally 24-36 hours after hatching, and the first feed can be crushed corn, millet or complete feed . Spread the feed evenly on a shallow feed pan or plastic sheet to guide the chicks to eat.

3. Temperature management

The temperature should be between 33°C and 35°C in the first week after hatching, and then drop by 1°C to 2°C every week. If the temperature is too low, the chicks will gather together, and if the temperature is too high, they will move away from the heat source, so it needs to be adjusted in time.

4. Daily management

The light exposure is 23 hours per day from 1 to 3 days old, and the light exposure is fixed at 8 to 9 hours per day from 4 days to 20 weeks old. Excessive humidity will cause the chicken house to be damp and breed bacteria, so it needs to be kept ventilated and dry. The light source can be selected from incandescent lamps or red bulbs. Under the premise of keeping warm, the chicken house needs to be kept well ventilated to avoid the accumulation of harmful gases.

5. Disease prevention and control

Check the health of your chickens regularly to detect and treat any diseases promptly. Use drugs and antibiotics rationally to avoid drug residues and the development of drug resistance. According to the local epidemic situation and the advice of the veterinarian, formulate a reasonable immunization program and vaccinate the chicks on time.

The above is an introduction to chicken breeding technology and feeding management. Farmers should keep good feeding records, including feed amount, water intake, temperature, humidity, lighting time, etc., so as to discover problems in time and adjust the feeding management plan.
