Planting technology and cultivation management of white chrysanthemum

White chrysanthemum is also called sweet chamomile, Hangzhou chrysanthemum, Hangzhou white chrysanthemum, tea chrysanthemum, medicinal chrysanthemum, etc. The flowers come in two colors: white and yellow. It has medicinal value and is planted in many areas. Here I will introduce to you the planting technology and cultivation management of white chrysanthemum.

1. Site selection and land preparation

Choose a plot of land that is sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, fertile, and well-drained. Deeply plow and apply sufficient base fertilizer in spring, apply 1500-2000 kg of farmyard manure per mu, and level and harrow the land to make ridges.

2. Planting time

The planting time of white chrysanthemum is generally in early to mid-April, and no later than early May. The planting density depends on the farming system and planting period. Generally, the number of seedlings per mu is between 3,500 and 5,000. Before planting, the field should be plowed once and base fertilizer should be applied in combination with land preparation.

3. Cultivation and weeding

During the period of white chrysanthemum seedlings, weeding and loosening the soil are combined. Keep the topsoil from becoming compacted and allow the roots to grow downward. In the middle period of chrysanthemum growth, weeding and loosening the soil are also necessary. In the later stage, weeding should not be too deep, and the roots should be covered with soil to prevent lodging.

4. Water and fertilizer management

White chrysanthemum is a crop that likes fertilizer, but not too much in the early stage. It can be top-dressed 3-4 times with human and animal manure as the main ingredient, about 1,500 kilograms per mu each time. In the later stage, appropriately add decomposed cake fertilizer and superphosphate. Water less during the seedling stage to prevent excessive growth. After the beginning of the dog days, especially during the pregnancy period, watering should be carried out in time, and watering in the later period should be combined with the application of human feces and urine. To promote more and larger flowers. During the rainy season, drainage must be carried out in time, otherwise it will cause root rot and affect yield.

5. Topping

For white chrysanthemum, the main stem should be made strong, the number of lodging should be reduced, more branches should be promoted, and the number of flower buds should be increased. The first topping is done in late June or early July when the stem is about 30 cm high to promote the growth of more side branches. The second time should be in mid-to-late July, when the side branches are 15 cm long and the tops of the side branches should be pruned.

6. Pest and disease control

A common disease of white chrysanthemum is leaf blight, which often occurs in the rainy season. When it occurs, the lower leaves of the plant are infected first. Initially, round or oval purple-brown spots appear on the leaves. In the later stage, black spots appear on the lesions. Eventually the entire leaf dries up. During the disease period, spray with 1:1:100 Bordeaux mixture or 500 times diluted 65% Zincan, once every 7-10 days, for 3 to 4 times in a row.

A common pest of white chrysanthemum is the chrysanthemum longhorn beetle , which mainly feeds on the stems and causes the chrysanthemum branches to break. The prevention and control method is to remove the affected stems and branches in time and burn them. When adults occur, they can be captured manually or sprayed with 1500 times the concentration of 65% phosphamide emulsifiable concentrate.
