When to plant sesame

Sesame is mainly propagated by sowing. The best time is April-May in spring, or July in summer. The land must be prepared and fertilized before planting, and sufficient light must be provided during maintenance.

Planting time in the north and south: There is not much difference in the planting time of sesame in the north and south, and it can be sown in spring or summer.

Greenhouse planting time: Greenhouse sesame is generally sown in May and June. Since the seeds are very small, they can be mixed with sand before sowing.

Sesame Origin and Planting Month

Sesame is widely distributed in my country, and common producing areas include Hubei, Jiangxi, Hebei, Anhui, Yunnan, Guizhou and other provinces.

Jiangxi Sesame

Anhui sesame

The yield of Anhui sesame is very high, with a full growing period of about 90 days. It is a medium-maturing variety with a black seed coat and high oil content in the seeds.

White sesame

White sesame is more suitable for consumption. It can be planted in April and May and matures in August and September. It is white in color, has full grains and a mellower taste.

Black sesame

Black sesame is more suitable for medicinal use. It is sown in spring and summer and has a growth cycle of about 90 days. It is rich in nutrients such as carbohydrates, vitamins, calcium, iron, etc., and has the effects of strengthening the stomach and protecting the liver.
