When to plant outdoor cantaloupe

Open-air cantaloupe can be cultivated in spring, summer and autumn. It is not suitable for planting during the frost period. The best planting method is sowing or transplanting.

Shaanxi open-air cantaloupe

Shaanxi open-air cantaloupe can be planted from March to May, with a growing period of about 60 days. Shaanxi cantaloupe is an improved variety of Xinjiang's "Red Heart Crisp" and has the advantages of early growth, disease resistance, and strong fruiting ability.

Henan open-air cantaloupe

Henan open-air cantaloupe can be planted from April to June, with a total growth period of about 90 days. The cantaloupe here is tender and crisp, with a spindle-shaped fruit and a yellow-green skin. It tastes first-rate.

Open-air cantaloupe varieties and planting months

Common varieties of open-air cantaloupe include Cuizhai cantaloupe, Acheng cantaloupe, Sanshui Leping snow pear melon, Shenxian cantaloupe, Lanxi cantaloupe, Wuyuan lantern red cantaloupe, and fair cantaloupe.

Cuizhai open-air cantaloupe

Cuizhai open-air cantaloupe can be grown in all seasons and matures in about 30 days. The flesh of this variety of cantaloupe is thick and light orange, with a sugar content between 13-16%. It matures in about 40 days after flowering and has strong storage and transportation resistance.

Acheng open-air cantaloupe

Acheng open-air cantaloupe is usually planted in July and is available on the market when it matures in September. This variety of cantaloupe has a grayish-green skin and orange flesh that is soft and tender with a particularly delicious flavor.
