How to grow lilies in summer

How to grow lilies in summer

1. Sufficient water

Lilies like to grow in a humid environment. Water evaporates quickly in summer, so it is necessary to replenish water for them in time. In addition, you also need to spray water on the leaves or around the plants to maintain humidity. However, there should be no accumulation of water in the potting soil, and the amount of watering should be reduced after the flowering period. If there are more rainy seasons, it is necessary to drain the excess water in the potting soil in time to avoid water accumulation.

2. Reasonable lighting

Lily can tolerate partial shade as well as strong light. It is a long-day plant, so it must be given sufficient light. During the flowering period, appropriate shading measures should be taken, or the plant should be placed in a cool place for maintenance. The temperature in summer is relatively low, so we must do a good job of cooling down.

3. Scientific fertilization

Lilies will bloom in early June. At this time, you should apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to facilitate their flowering. If the leaves turn yellow or show signs of premature aging in July, spray the leaves with potassium dihydrogen phosphate and urea.

4. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

The temperature in summer is relatively high, and if the breeding environment is not well ventilated, it will be easy for pests and diseases to occur. If a disease occurs, be sure to spray the plant with pesticides in a timely manner. You can choose pesticides such as carbendazim or methyl thiophanate according to the situation.
