Disease and Pest Control of Polygonatum cyrtonema

Disease and Pest Control of Polygonatum cyrtonema

Main diseases

They often present with black spot disease. You can tell what this disease is by looking at its name: black spots appear on the leaves. This disease mainly appears on the leaves. When the disease first occurs, small brown spots will appear on the surface of the leaves, but they will gradually expand and later form round or irregular dark spots. It basically starts in May every year, but it is most serious from July to September. If there are stronger winds and rains, the infected area will be even larger, so prevention and control measures should be taken in time before the rainy season comes.

If you do not select good varieties in advance, you must also clear the dead branches and leaves in the soil before planting to prevent the previous year's pathogens from spreading to this year. Once the corresponding symptoms have occurred, a certain amount of Bordeaux mixture can be used in the early stage, once a week for 3 consecutive weeks. But in the later stages, more effective agents can be used.

Main pests

White grubs can harm plants even when they are larvae. They hide in the soil during the day and come out at 8 or 9 o'clock in the evening. The larvae of this insect are active underground all the time. Once the temperature reaches 5℃, they will move to the surface of the soil. When the temperature rises to 13-18℃, they will be very active. They will eat both newly planted seeds and newly grown leaves, so they are very harmful.

Once this kind of insect is found, you can use the corresponding pesticide to spray it. At the same time, please note that this insect likes organic fertilizer very much, so try not to use this kind of fertilizer during the planting process. Also, before planting, it is best to choose soil that has been used to plant soybeans, peanuts, etc.
