Causes and treatments of yellowing leaves of nail orchid

Causes and treatments of yellowing leaves of nail orchid

1. Insufficient light

Reason: Nail orchids should be maintained in an environment with sufficient light to ensure that they can receive sunlight every day. If there is insufficient light, it will grow slowly and the leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: You can hang it directly near a slightly shaded windowsill so that it receives some scattered light to meet its normal growth needs.

2. Temperature discomfort

Reason: Nail orchid likes warmth and can tolerate high humidity environments. The higher the growth environment temperature, the better it will grow. But the higher is not necessarily better. In winter, the daytime temperature should be kept below 21 degrees and above 19 degrees. If the temperature is too low or too high, it will cause problems such as yellow leaves in its growth.

Measures: If the temperature is too high, provide it with some shade and increase the humidity in the air by spraying water. When the temperature drops below ten degrees in winter, you should keep warm and move it indoors.

3. Water and fertilizer issues

Reason: During the growth period of nail orchid, it has a relatively large demand for water and fertilizer. Only by applying enough water and fertilizer can it meet the water and nutrients it needs for rapid growth. Otherwise, its growth will be hindered and some leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: During its growing season from April to October, you can spray liquid fertilizer on its leaves and roots every week, and water it once every three to five days.

4. Unsuitable soil

Reason: When growing nail orchids, it is advisable to use a natural substrate with good air permeability, otherwise it will hinder the growth and breathing of the roots and cause yellow leaves.

Measures: The soil needs to be replaced in time with a substrate with good air permeability such as charcoal.
