How to maintain Zhujiao

Cordyline growing conditions

Cordyline prefers a warm and humid semi-shady environment. It is not cold-resistant. The winter temperature needs to be maintained at 10-20 degrees. The suitable growth temperature is between 20-25 degrees. It is not resistant to strong light exposure. It can grow in sparse shade and shade environment. It is suitable for planting in acidic soil rich in humus and well-drained.

How to grow Cordyceps

Cordyline is a relatively light-loving plant. In northern my country, it can be placed in a place with strong scattered light indoors for maintenance all year round. If the temperature is low in winter, it needs to be moved indoors. At this time, reduce watering and stop fertilizing. The temperature for wintering should be above 10℃.

Watering Cordyline

When watering, you need to pay attention that the Cordyline plant is particularly sensitive to water. The soil in the pot must be kept moist during the growth period. If there is a lack of water in the potting soil, the leaves of the Cordyline will fall off. If there is too much water, water will accumulate in the pot, causing the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. You must also spray water in time and keep the humidity at around 60%.

Fertilization of Cordyline

During the vigorous growth period of Cordyline, apply thin fertilizer every 15 days. Do not use concentrated fertilizer. Apply fertilizer in moderation. Too little will cause the leaves to become dull and thinner, while too much will cause the leaves to wither and yellow, thus affecting the growth and appearance of Cordyline.

Cordyline pest control

Cordyline is prone to scale insects in high temperature and high humidity environments. In addition, scale insects can also induce sooty mold disease. Scale insects have sharp piercing and sucking mouthparts, which can insert into the leaves of Cordyline for life to feed, affecting the photosynthesis of the plant. Omethoate can be used for spraying and control, and chlorothalonil can be used if anthracnose occurs.

How to grow Cordyceps sinensis at home

When caring for Cordyline potted plants, you can use loose, well-drained, humus-containing, slightly acidic soil. You can mix it with leaf mold, garden soil, and river sand, and apply an appropriate amount of base fertilizer. This will allow for better growth in the later stages. When cultivating, it should be placed in scattered light, not in strong light, and not in a cool place, to prevent the leaves from turning yellow and affecting the appearance.

Cordyline maintenance precautions

Cordyline is a foliage plant that is resistant to pruning, but it has limited branches and leaves. Excessive pruning will affect its appearance and is not conducive to photosynthesis. If it is grown in water, change the water frequently. Pour a few drops of brandy into the bottle every 15-20 days, and also add some nutrient solution to promote leaf growth.
