How to grow hyacinth

How to grow hyacinth

1. Soil culture

1. Soil: Hyacinths can be grown using peat and granular soil, or peat and perlite, mixed in a ratio of 3:1 or 4:1 as soil.

2. Spacing: When growing hyacinths in soil, you should pay attention to the size of the pot and the number of plants to be planted. Generally, it is recommended to plant one in a 10 cm diameter pot, and three in a 15 cm diameter pot. If the plants are larger, they can be placed with a row spacing and plant spacing of 4 to 5 cm.

3. Soil depth: When planting hyacinth in a flowerpot, the depth of the soil should exceed the opening of the bulb. A deeper depth will help the growth of the bulb. But it is generally cultivated for one year, and it can be slightly shallower, as long as the bulbs can be covered with soil.

4. Watering: Water it when the soil is dry and wet. There should not be stagnant water and the soil should not be too dry.

5. Temperature: A moderately low temperature environment is beneficial to its growth. When you find new buds beginning to appear on the soil surface, you can cover the hyacinth with a dark flowerpot or cardboard box. This will make the leaves and flower stalks grow longer and look more beautiful.

2. Hydroponics

1. Container: When cultivating hyacinth in hydroponic culture, you can go to the market to buy special hydroponic containers. Just put it in the container and fill it with water. Generally speaking, it is not recommended to water the plant close to the bulb. It is best to keep it one centimeter away from the bulb. Then cover the glass container with black material so that it can grow better in a dark environment.

2. Pruning: Also remember to change the water of the hyacinth regularly until new roots grow and leaves begin to sprout. Generally speaking, hydroponics will take about two months to bloom. After the flowers fade, the flower holes should be cut off in time to allow nutrients to return to the bulbs and promote the expansion of the bulbs. If you prune too late, it may produce seeds that consume nutrients.
