There are several ways to propagate Aspidistra

1. It has several reproduction methods

There are usually two ways of propagation, namely division and cutting propagation. But because it has too few leaves, people are reluctant to cut it, so it is often propagated by division.

2. Division propagation

1. Division time

When dividing the plants, we choose February to March every year. At this time, the temperature gradually rises, the soil begins to slowly thaw, and new buds are about to sprout. The best time to divide the plants is before the small buds grow out, so this is the most suitable time. If it is too late, it will affect its growth rate after division.

2. Master the division technique

When dividing the plant, first knock on the outside of the pot to separate the pot from the soil, then take the mother plant out of the pot, clean up the excess soil, and leave only the soil around the roots. Then use a knife to separate the tangled roots into several clumps, leaving 2 to 3 plants in each clump.

After the plant is divided, it can be properly pruned, leaving only 3 to 5 leaves, then all other branches and leaves are cut off, and rotten roots are cut off, and placed in a cool place for future use.

3. Planting in pots

Replant the separated sub-plants into the prepared potting soil, but in the process, the sub-plants need to be disinfected. If disinfected before planting, just soak them in the prepared benomyl solution for 5 minutes; if disinfected after potting, just irrigate the roots with benomyl solution.
