How to prune ivy and grow it hydroponically

How to prune ivy and grow it hydroponically

1. You can prune and grow hydroponics

Ivy has a strong adaptability and can be grown not only in soil but also in hydroponics. Moreover, hydroponics is more suitable and it is also highly ornamental.

2. How to prune

First, choose a well-grown, strong branch with aerial roots. If you are not in a hurry to water-plant it and conditions permit, you can take your time to cut it off. Place a basin of water next to it and put the selected branches in it. After the roots have grown strong, cut the branches off. When cutting, it is best to use sharp, sterilized scissors.

3. How to hydroponically cultivate

Prepare a transparent container so that you can easily see the roots of the branches. Then, put the branches in. Then fill the bottle with water until two-thirds of the roots are covered.

IV. Precautions

1. Change the water regularly. It is best to change it every one or two days at the beginning. Keeping the water clean is conducive to its rooting. New roots will grow in about ten days. After this, make sure to change the water frequently.

2. In addition, you can trim the roots while changing the water. If there are some rotten roots, they should be cut off in time.

3. After the branches have taken root and are growing normally, you can add a few drops of nutrient solution each time you change the water.

4. Before rooting, place it in a shady place. After it has taken root, you can give it weaker light.

5. The temperature must be appropriate throughout the entire process.
