Introduction to Agarwood Tree

Agarwood tree, also known as native agarwood and submerged agarwood, is a tropical and subtropical plant. It is a medicinal plant and a national second-level protected plant. It is also known as white agarwood, tooth-fragrant tree, daughter agarwood, honey-fragrant tree, and Wanxiang tree. It is divided into "Hui'an system" and "Xingzhou system" according to the flavor of the origin of the agarwood tree.

Agarwood tree planting conditions

Agarwood prefers a humid environment, but is also relatively drought-resistant and not water-resistant. It does not have high requirements for soil and can grow in loose and fertile acidic sandy loam, yellow loam and red loam.

Agarwood tree planting climate and temperature

Agarwood is a subtropical tree species with an annual average temperature between 19 and 25 degrees. The average temperature in January is 13 degrees and the average temperature in July is above 30 degrees. The annual rainfall is 1,600 to 2,400 mm and the relative humidity is 80% to 90%.

Suitable areas for planting agarwood trees

Agarwood trees are generally distributed in areas below 400 meters above sea level, but in Hainan, they are also distributed in areas over 1,000 meters. They are commonly found in mountains, hills and sparse woods on sunny roadsides. The production areas of agarwood are mainly distributed in Hainan Province, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Indonesian Islands and other Southeast Asian regions.

Agarwood tree planting time

Agarwood trees are suitable for planting in spring, usually in March and April each year when the temperature rises and the spring shoots have not yet sprouted or are about to sprout, choose a rainy day for planting.

Benefits of Agarwood Tree Planting

The price of agarwood trees is relatively high because of excessive exploitation and their output is decreasing. If they are cultivated artificially, they need to be maintained for 3 years before the leaves can be picked to make health tea. After 3-4 years, they will bloom and bear fruit. The fruit is an important medicinal chemical raw material with very high social and economic benefits.
