How to propagate Liriodendron chinense by cuttings

How to propagate Liriodendron chinense by cuttings

1. Hardwood cuttings

Select one-year-old cuttings in good growth condition, trim them into about 15-20cm, cut a section at an angle at the bottom, and ensure that there are 2-3 buds on each section. Before cutting, soak and apply rooting powder or carbendazim, then insert it into the soil to a depth of 2/3, and take shade measures. Avoid direct sunlight and spray water frequently.

2. Softwood Cuttings

Choose young branches of the current year, leave 1-2 leaves, and do cuttings in June-September. The substrate can be made of river sand or perlite and kept moist to increase the survival rate. Just insert the processed branches into the substrate, and also avoid direct sunlight.
