ShadingIn summer, orchids like to grow in a cool and ventilated environment. After the beginning of summer, the sunlight becomes stronger. In the north, when orchids are just out of the greenhouse, they can be placed under a cool big tree or next to a bamboo forest, or they can be placed in a shade shed to receive weak light in the morning and evening. In order to accelerate the growth of orchid buds, they can be exposed to weak light for one hour in the morning and evening. In late summer, it is necessary to strengthen shading, prevent heatstroke and reduce temperature, water the orchids frequently in the morning, noon and evening, and ventilate the orchid growing area frequently. Temperature controlThe best temperature for orchid growth is 20~30℃, and orchids grow well within this temperature range. When the temperature is high, orchids grow fast, bloom earlier, and have a strong fragrance; when the temperature is low, orchids grow slowly, bloom later, and have a weak fragrance. In summer, the daytime temperature can be controlled within the range of 24~30℃, and the nighttime temperature can be controlled within the range of 16~24℃. Such temperature is suitable for the rapid growth of orchids and the accumulation of nutrients for the germination of summer and autumn buds, which is beneficial for orchids to sprout more summer. WateringWhen the orchid pot is relatively dry, the correct approach is to use rainwater to water the orchid pot thoroughly, so that the temperature and humidity of the small world in the pot are consistent with those of the outside nature. But rainwater is not easy to get, so you can leave the tap water at home for 24 hours before using it. Watering should be done in the early morning before sunrise and in the evening after the residual heat subsides. FertilizationNo matter what kind of organic fertilizer is used, it must be fully fermented and decomposed, and then diluted with clean water before use. It is better to apply fertilizer in small amounts and frequently, apply liquid fertilizer once every 10 days, and do it in the evening on sunny days. Within one or two hours after fertilizing, or the next morning, water the orchid pot thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining fertilizer. Pest controlIn the south, the sun is shining brightly and there is plenty of rain in the summer, which can cause the planting materials in orchid pots to become sour and easily infested with insect pests. Therefore, every 7 days, pesticides should be sprayed around the cultivation site and the orchid pots to kill insects and sterilize. |
