How to plant sugarcane

How to plant sugarcane

1. Select sugarcane seedlings

Generally, when planting sugarcane, the sugarcane seedlings are planted directly. The tail part of the sugarcane can be used because the buds at the tail part of the sugarcane are the most dense and have high germination height. The sugarcane seedlings are cut into sections of about 20 cm, with the buds facing both sides. Be careful not to cut the seedlings.

2. Land preparation

Before planting, the land should be deeply plowed to provide a loose and fertile soil condition for the sugarcane seedlings. The depth should be 30 cm. The depth of the planting ditch should be about 30 cm and the width should be about 20 to 25 cm. The bottom of the planting ditch should be flat and the row spacing should be about 1.5 meters.

3. Planting method

When planting sugarcane seedlings, water the soil and gently press the sugarcane seedlings into the mud. Press only half of the sugarcane seedlings in, leaving half of the sugarcane seedlings exposed outside. The sugarcane seedlings should be placed flat, not vertically, with the buds on the left and right sides, and the plant spacing should be controlled at about 20 cm. The seeds generally begin to germinate about a month after sowing.
