How to change the pot and soil of Clivia?

Clivia has become a popular ornamental potted plant with its upright leaves, dignified form, neat arrangement, beautiful flowers, bright colors and pleasant fragrance. It not only adds elegance to study rooms and living rooms, but is also a favorite among flower lovers. So, how do you change the pot and soil for Clivia?

1. Soil

First of all, choosing the right culture soil is the key. Clivia needs suitable soil to ensure the growth of its fleshy roots, lush leaves and abundant flowers. The ideal culture soil should simulate the soil environment of its origin, and the pH value should be slightly lower than 7, around 6.5, maintaining a neutral to acidic state.

Usually, you can mix 70% sieved horse manure with 30% sieved river sand, or 70% sieved forest humus with 30% sieved river sand, or 40% sieved horse manure, 40% sieved forest humus and 20% sieved river sand. Horse manure needs to be decomposed and fermented, turn brown and have no odor before it can be used. To prevent diseases and pests, it is also necessary to add an appropriate amount of insecticides and fungicides to the culture soil.

2. Time

Secondly, choose the appropriate time to repot. Clivia usually needs to be repotted every 2-3 years. The best time is in early spring in April, after the Clivia blooms and the temperature rises after the Qingming Festival.

3. Methods

Next, the specific steps of repotting are as follows. Dig the Clivia out of the original pot, remove the soil, use scissors to divide the plants into groups of three to four, and then plant them in the prepared new culture soil. If the plant has wounds, wait for the wounds to dry and apply sulfur powder or charcoal powder before potting it. Bury the bulb in a basin of fine sand and place it in a semi-shaded environment at 20-25℃ to promote rooting. Control watering. After about a month when new roots grow out, move it into a nutrient pot and replace it with new culture soil. The cultivation depth should be enough to cover the junction of the rhizome and pseudobulb. As the fleshy roots grow, the culture soil should be added in time. Afterwards, water thoroughly once.

4. Management after repotting

Finally, it is the management after repotting. After repotting, water thoroughly and place in a cool place for maintenance. Apply base fertilizer once every spring when moving the Clivia outdoors. Except in summer, apply thin liquid fertilizer once a month, preferably fermented oil cake water. The principle of watering is "don't water unless the soil is dry". Reduce watering in winter and increase watering appropriately in summer, but avoid excessive watering. By following these steps, you can ensure the healthy growth and beautiful blooming of your Clivia.

The above is an introduction to the methods and precautions for repotting Clivia. You can refer to it based on the actual situation and repot it reasonably.
