Clivia "Beheading" Diary1. Clivia is too pretentious. Not only does it grow slowly, but its leaves are no longer attractive after summer. They will look ugly if you cut their leaves off anyway, so you might as well just cut off their heads! 2. Prepare the sharpest kitchen knife in your home, warm the blade with a lighter, and cut the Clivia into flat heads quickly, fiercely and accurately. Don't forget to sprinkle some carbendazim on the cut to avoid infection! 3. I felt relieved after cutting the plants. After two or three days (without watering), I went to check on the plants and they were in good condition. The cut was a little dry, indicating that they had healed. Wipe the soil in the pot and water it if it is dry. 4. After one week, I felt some changes in the roots. Small buds had sprouted. I counted them and there were 5 of them. I was so excited! Don't bask in the sun at this time, spray water around the air every day to keep moisturized~ After 5 or 10 days, the small buds will turn green, which means they are stable and need some sunlight, so expose them to the sun from 9 to 10 in the morning. 6. After half a month, the small buds have grown and look very dense. At this time, you should water less, keep more moisturizer, and expose them to the sun appropriately. 7. The small buds grow vigorously and are fully grown in 20 days. The ones at the top where there is plenty of sunlight are larger, while the ones at the bottom where there are shades are smaller. They need to change their position frequently to receive sunlight. 8. It has become shiny and slippery after one month. During this period, I added nutrient solution once. It has grown so fast. I have to say that this cutting was really worth it. One tree has become 6, and the original pot is not enough to plant them! How to grow Clivia1. Change flower pots in time to provide full lighting Although Clivia is afraid of the sun, it still needs to be placed in a place with better light to grow green leaves. A group of orchids have many leaves, which can easily block each other's view. You need to rotate the pots more often to ensure that each leaf can photosynthesize evenly. 2. Division If too many sprouts appear after beheading and you are afraid that you cannot grow them well, you can also cut the seedlings off, insert them in sandy soil to take root again and plant them. This way you can turn one pot into multiple pots. But it is best to wait until the temperature is around 23 degrees. 3. Take a bath regularly to maintain hygiene Because there are so many leaves, dust and water can easily accumulate in the cracks, generating bacteria that can cause fungal diseases. So when watering, be careful not to pour water into the gaps, wipe the leaves frequently to keep them clean. 4. Beer fertilizer is also a nutrient solution I believe everyone knows that Clivia loves to "drink" beer. In addition to the nutrient solution we buy, you can mix beer with water (1:10) and rub the leaves, or pour it in the pot. It can not only make the leaves of Clivia greener, but also promote flowering. 5. If it doesn’t bloom, keep it in a dark room The temperature difference between day and night is large, so Clivia is easier to bloom. We can simulate the temperature difference by first putting it in a well-lit place for about 3 days, and then putting it in a darker corner for 3 days. Repeat this several times and it will be "tricked" into blooming. |
