Chlorophytum division, crazy blooming

Division method

There are two types of spider plant division. One is branch and leaf division, which is to separate the small spider plants on the creeping stems; the other is root division.

Branch and leaf division

1. After the mother plant of spider plant produces pups, cut off the small spider plants on the creeping stems when they grow to about 8cm, leaving two stem nodes.

2. Prepare loose and fertile soil, bury the cut spider plants 1 to 2 cm into the soil, water to keep it moist, and it will take root in about 3 days.

3. After rooting, water it once a day, ventilate it more, and maintain diffuse light. It does not need deliberate management and will soon grow out of the pot!

Root division

1. Choose a healthy spider plant, use a small shovel to gently loosen the soil around the plant, take out the entire spider plant, gently shake off the soil, and be careful not to damage the roots.

2. Separate a part of the roots from the main root system with your hands, and cut off the yellow and dead leaves after separation to reduce nutrient consumption.

3. Move the separated spider plants into the potting soil and keep the soil moist. After 2 to 3 days, the spider plants will adapt to the new environment and begin to take root and grow leaves.

Division of succulent plants is better than beheading them

Prerequisites for division

The prerequisite for dividing succulents is that the succulents grow in groups and have their own root system. Otherwise, it cannot be considered division and it can only be considered breaking off side buds.

Steps for division

1. Remove from the pot: dig out the healthy succulents from the soil, but be careful not to damage the roots.

2. Division: Clean the soil and you can directly break off the clumps of succulents with their roots with your hands.

3. Potting: Let the roots air dry for 2 hours, then plant the separated mother plant and small plants in pots respectively, keeping the soil slightly moist, not too wet.

4. Maintenance: Place the flower pot in a ventilated and diffused light place, and increase the light after a week.

Peony division, the roots grow stronger and stronger

Benefits of division

Woody plants that bloom in spring, such as peony, peony, winter jasmine, and bauhinia, are best suited to division in autumn. When the temperature is suitable, the plants will take root quickly and in large quantities, and their growth in the second year will be much better.

Prerequisites for division

The peony must be grown for more than 3 years to be divided. The original seedlings of 4 to 5 years old are the best. If the seedlings are not old enough or are grafted, it is difficult for the division to survive.

Steps for division

1. Dig out the whole peony plant, remove the soil, and dry it in the sun for 1 to 2 days to allow the roots to lose water and soften, so that the roots will not be easily damaged when dividing.

2. Start dividing from the junction of the root texture. The sub-plants generally have 3 to 4 branches, and keep the root system intact.

3. Apply a small amount of sulfur powder on the wound, then replant the mother plant and the daughter plant into the soil. Make sure the roots are upright, compact the soil, and water it a few more times.

Huahua today introduced to you the division propagation techniques of foliage, succulents and woody plants. The division techniques of Clivia, Asparagus, Orchid, Peony and other plants are similar to those of the above plants, so you can refer to them~

<<:  If you cut the Clivia once, 6 buds will sprout in 10 days, and the orchid will become so big that the pot can’t even hold them all!
