How to prune the roots of lucky bamboo

How to prune the roots of lucky bamboo

1. Why do we need to prune the roots?

By cutting off some of the roots we can inhibit its growth and encourage it to grow new roots, thereby gradually achieving the goal of limiting its height. If new roots have grown out of the original cut, you can continue to cut off the old roots. This rough cycle can continuously lower the height of the lucky bamboo and make it reach the ideal height.

2. Pruning method

When cutting the roots, make a slight slant cut at the appropriate position. The purpose of the slant cut is to increase the absorption surface of water and nutrients. When pruning, prune away rotten roots, damaged roots, old roots, and roots that are not growing well, and be careful not to damage the newly grown roots.

3. Maintenance after pruning

After pruning, you can let it air dry for a few hours and then put it back into the container of water for curing. When maintaining the plant, you should change the water every 3 days or so and try not to move the position and direction of the vase within half a month. This way, new roots will grow in about half a month.
