What kind of pot should be used to plant Desert Rose?

1. Choose a pot

There are many kinds of pots made of different materials on the market. When you choose a pot for a desert rose, the merchant will definitely introduce you to the pot with the highest profit. However, this type of pot may not be suitable for the growth of desert roses. When choosing a pot, you should choose one according to the habits of the plant. As mentioned above, the roots of Desert Rose are fragile and it is a drought-resistant plant. Its roots must not be soaked in water. Once soaked, the roots will rot and become difficult to deal with.

Therefore, when choosing a pot for it, you should choose one with good air permeability and drainage performance. The size of the pot should be determined based on the volume of the desert rose. Generally, the volume of the pot should be twice the volume of the plant. One is to allow the roots of the desert rose to have space to grow in the pot, and the other is to leave enough space for the plant to grow in the next year to avoid the pot being too small and affecting the health of the plant.

2. Homemade basin

In addition to buying pots, you can also use local materials to make your own desert rose cultivation pots. First, choose a container that is twice the size of the desert rose, preferably clay. Then drill a few holes in the bottom of the container to prevent water from accumulating in the bottom of the pot due to excessive watering. Then bury a cotton thread as thick as a finger in the soil of the pot. The length should be enough to extend out of the bottom. The purpose is to drain excess water out of the pot and avoid water accumulation and root rot.
