What soil is used to grow desert roses?

1. Soil

The soil for growing desert roses should have good air permeability and good drainage. You can use river sand soil for breeding. If it is not loose enough, you can add expanded clay to increase the looseness. The soil thus prepared can be used to breed plants.

2. Increase nutrients

Desert Rose does not need fertilizer during its dormant period, as the nutrients in the soil can meet its needs. However, during its growing and flowering periods, the nutrients in the soil alone cannot meet the needs of the Desert Rose. Fertilizer needs to be added during these two special periods.

The root system of desert rose is fragile. If concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer is applied, root burn may easily occur. If drought-resistant plants suffer from root burn, it is difficult to deal with and should be avoided as much as possible. Therefore, when applying fertilizer, you should use fertilizer that is less irritating and has sufficient nutrients. For example, animal manure is easy to decompose and absorb, and is very suitable for it. However, a lot of animal feces contain parasites. Even if it is disinfected animal feces, you still need to wash your hands and disinfect them after fertilizing to avoid infection.

3. Notes

When applying fertilizer, it is best to leave a distance from the roots, about five to ten centimeters. When watering, pour water on the fertilizer and let the water penetrate into the soil with the nutrients in the fertilizer. This will cause less stimulation to the roots of the plant and can protect the roots from burns to the greatest extent.
