How to grow spider plants to make them more lush

1. Change the soil regularly

The root system of spider plants is very developed, and the soil usually needs to be changed once a year. Because the nutrients in the old soil have been consumed, if the soil is not replaced in time it will be detrimental to the growth of the plants. When changing the soil, choose loose soil, not too sticky, and apply enough base fertilizer at the bottom of the pot.

2. Control watering

Chlorophytum has a certain degree of drought resistance, so don’t water it too much at normal times. You can water it once every half a month depending on the situation. If you water it too much, its roots will easily rot. You should control the amount of watering in winter as water evaporates more slowly. If you water it too much, it may get frozen.

3. Reasonable lighting

Chlorophytum is a semi-shade plant. During normal maintenance, it should be kept away from strong sunlight. If the light is strong, it needs to be moved to another location or properly shaded. If the light is too strong, it will be sunburned and the leaves will turn yellow. However, it can be exposed to light in winter, but it is best to place it indoors, as the low outdoor temperature may cause frostbite.

4. Proper pruning

If you want the spider plant to grow more luxuriantly, timely pruning is important. During its growth process, if dead branches, diseased branches and leaves, or dead leaves are found, they must be trimmed off with scissors in time. You can apply more fertilizer after pruning to make it grow stronger.
