What to do after the longevity flower has finished blooming

What to do after the longevity flower has finished blooming

1. Prune the remaining flowers

When the temperature exceeds 30℃ and the Kalanchoe has completely withered, you need to cut off its remaining flowers to promote the germination of its side buds. The normally blooming Kalanchoe has brighter colors and upright flowers, which face upwards or sideways. When the flowers fade, they will turn light brown, and the flower heads will wilt and droop. We can then trim these flowers.

2. Pruning branches

Because the branches of Kalanchoe are relatively thin and weak, and their thickness is not very uniform, the plant shape is difficult to control. When pruning, you can cut heavier so that the buds at the bottom will sprout shorter and it will grow stronger. After the temperature returns to normal in autumn, it will grow more lush and will produce more flowers in winter.

3. Pruning principles

When pruning Kalanchoe, you need to follow a principle, which is to cut it as downward as possible. Keep 2-3 leaves at the bottom and cut them off. After pruning, be careful not to let water get to the wound within two or three days. Then we put it in a ventilated and cool place with bright light and manage it normally. After it safely passes through the summer and grows in the autumn, it will produce better flower buds next time.
