Time and method of changing soil in Jade Dew

Time to change the soil

Jade plant is usually repotted in spring and autumn. Its roots will continuously secrete acidic substances, which can easily lead to soil acidification over a long period of time, causing the roots of the plant to become hollow and accelerating root aging. It is necessary to repot and change the soil in time.

How to change the pot and soil of Jade Dew

When repotting the jade plant, you first need to tidy up the roots and then prune them, mainly by cutting off aging and hollow roots. For roots that have grown too long, they need to be shortened appropriately, leaving only the relatively thick white new roots. After pruning the roots, the wounds on the roots must be sterilized and disinfected before putting the plant in the pot.

Notes on changing soil for Jade Dew

1. When changing the soil for Jade Plant, you need to use leaf mold and coarse sand, mix them in a ratio of 2:3, and then add an appropriate amount of bone meal. For different varieties, you can appropriately add some red jade, orchid stone, planting stone and other artificial synthetic media for cultivation.

2. When repotting the jade plant, you also need to tidy up the roots and prune them, and cut off some aging and hollow roots. It should be noted that after pruning, the wounds must be sterilized and disinfected before repotting.

3. For newly potted jade plants, water them in time after the seedlings have grown, and water them frequently, but control the amount of water each time. This will help the plants quickly recover to their normal growth state.

4. After changing the soil for Jade Dew, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are generally used, but it is best to dilute the phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before use. When fertilizing, do not use uncomposted fertilizers. When using fertilizers, the amount of nitrogen fertilizers should be controlled.

Maintenance method of Jade Dew after changing soil

1. After changing the soil of Jade Dew, water it according to the situation. Generally, water it once every 7-15 days, depending on the specific environment.

2. After changing the soil of Jade Dew, you can trim the roots appropriately according to the growth conditions of the root system, and then place the pot in a cool and ventilated place. After 3-5 days, pour a small amount of water along the edge of the pot to keep the soil in the pot at a certain humidity. It should be exposed to sunlight at ordinary times, and fertilize appropriately.

3. If the leaves of jade plant turn yellow, it is most likely because the flowerpot is too small, affecting the growth of the roots. If the potting soil is not changed for a long time, the roots will grow very well, and the reduced space in the pot will affect the root growth, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

4. Jade plant likes a cool and well-ventilated environment, and can be grown well in semi-shade. You can add a little weak sunlight and place it behind a screen window or glass.
