Be careful, if you keep your money tree like this, it will freeze to death sooner or later

1. The temperature is too low

When caring for the money tree at home, if the temperature is lower than 5℃, the money tree will easily get frostbite. The money tree is not cold-resistant. The suitable growth temperature is 20-35℃. It grows slowly when the temperature is below 10℃, and it is very easy to get frostbite when the temperature is below 5℃.

How to save and prevent

1. If the leaves of the money tree have not shown any signs of frostbite, you can proceed step by step. First, move it to a diffuse light environment at around 10°C. After 5-6 hours, raise the temperature to 15°C. Remember not to change the temperature suddenly, raising it by more than 15 degrees at once.

2. If the leaves of the money tree show symptoms of frostbite such as yellowing, you can first move it to an environment of about 10℃, then cut off the yellow and dry leaves, place it in a place with scattered light, and slowly increase the temperature.

3. If you really can’t provide the right temperature for the money tree at home, you can put the money tree in a sunny place during the day and let it see as much sunlight as possible.

At night, cover the money tree with a large plastic bag. Be careful not to tie the bottom, and leave it open to allow adequate ventilation.

2. Wipe and spray the leaves with cold water

Some flower lovers see dust on the leaves and spray water on the leaves of the money tree or wipe the leaves with cold water when the temperature is very low. This is an incorrect practice and can easily cause frostbite on the leaves.

How to save and prevent

1. Move the money tree to a warm and diffused light place, cut off the frostbitten leaves and branches. Be sure to cut off all the frozen branches, leaving 2-3 hidden buds on each branch.

2. After cutting off the branches, apply carbendazim on the wound, then wrap the wound with a plastic bag and place it in a semi-shaded and warm place for maintenance.

3. The temperature is low in winter, so do not spray water on the leaves of the money tree. If the air is too dry, you can sprinkle water on the ground to increase the humidity.

3. Excessive watering in winter

Improper watering in winter can easily cause frostbite on the money tree. Some flower lovers still water the money tree 2-3 times a week in winter. In this case, once the temperature drops sharply, it is very easy to frostbite the roots. This kind of frostbite is very lethal and there is basically no chance of rescue.

How to save and prevent

1. Frostbite caused by excessive watering in winter is very fatal and there is basically no possibility of recovery. If it is not very serious, you can cut off the broken branches, gradually move it to a warm place, and wait for the potting soil to recover. Remember to melt the potting soil by pouring hot water.

2. The money tree is drought-resistant, so you should not water it too much at normal times. In winter, you should control watering even more. Watering 1-2 times a month is enough. Water it thoroughly until water flows out from the bottom outlet. Be careful not to water halfway.

3. In addition to paying attention to the frequency of watering in winter, you should also pay attention to the water temperature and time. Do not water the money tree directly with icy water just from the tap, but place it in the sun by the window for 5-7 days, and then water it when the water temperature is close to room temperature. In addition, do not water it in the morning and evening, but water it at noon or afternoon.
