How to grow the newly bought lucky bamboo in water

How to grow the newly bought lucky bamboo in water

1. Water quality

For plants grown in water, water quality is very important. Don't use water directly from the tap; it contains too much chlorine. Tap water needs to be left standing or exposed to the sun for two or three days before it can be used. You can also use purified water directly.

2. Processing before insertion

First, you need to cut off some of the leaves to minimize transpiration, so that the plants can adapt to the environment faster and have a higher survival rate. In addition, cut an oblique incision at its base. This increases the contact area with the water.

3. Change water

During the rooting period, the water needs to be changed more frequently, about once every three or four days. For the purpose of preservation, charcoal etc. can also be used. After about two weeks, roots will begin to grow. At this time, reduce the frequency of watering. Change it about once every two weeks because the plant prefers humid water. Changing the water too often can easily cause the leaves to turn yellow, or even wither in severe cases. However, between water changes, a small amount of water needs to be added from time to time.

4. Nutrient solution

After rooting, you need to use some nutrient solution or compound fertilizer, usually once every three or four weeks. You can also add some brandy to help the leaves of the plant grow greener. But don't overdo it.

5. Temperature and light

The temperature is preferably in the range of twenty to twenty-eight. The light must not be too strong, semi-shade is best.
